Symptoms of Life-Threatening Food Allergy (Anaphylaxis)

  • HIVES, especially when they spread to different areas of the body.
  • PANIC, FEELING OF IMPENDING DOOM or EXTREME IRRITABILITY.
  • ITCHY or SCRATCHY THROAT or "FUNNY" FEELING in the throat.
  • CLOTHING FEELS TOO TIGHT AROUND THE NECK AREA. 
  • GASPING FOR AIR (SWELLING OF THE THROAT).
  • SWELLING of the LIPS, FACE OR EYES; FLUSHING.
  • SNEEZING with or without MUCUS.
  • COUGHING, DIFFICULTY BREATHING, WHEEZING, WORDS SOUND CHOPPY.
  • NAUSEA, VOMITING, DIARRHEA OR ABDOMINAL PAIN.
  • WEAKNESS or INABILITY TO GET UP and walk.
  • COLLAPSE or NEAR COLLAPSE.
  • DROP IN BLOOD PRESSURE.
  • LOSS OF CONSCIOUSNESS.

Food Allergies can be life threatening, so please seek emergency medical help if you or someone you know experiences any of the symptoms listed above after eating. See a Board Certified Allergist to obtain proper diagnosis and treatment of food allergies. It could save a life!
