On the Nature of Food Allergy by Paul J. Hannway, M.D.

This is a great resource book that has everything you've wanted to know about food allergies...and more. It covers food allergy basics, such as detailed information about anaphylaxis and how to treat it, and it also provides information and insight into other food allergy-related issues, such as the pros and cons of banning peanuts, theories about the causes of food allergy, as well as information about other food allergies that don't fit into the "big 8," including food additive reactions.  The book also includes chapters on diseases related to food allergies, alternative therapies, eating in restaurants, and managing food allergies at school, camp and college. It also includes a glossary of food allergy-related terms as well as a good resource section.

This is a one-stop book for everyone from patients, parents and caregivers, to educators, school nurses, restaurants, as well as anyone else who lives with food allergies. I'll continue to refer back to it time and again for the range of information it offers.

Dr. Hannaway is an Associate Clinical Professor at Tufts University School of Medicine and a Fellow at the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology. He is also the author of "The Asthma Self-Help Book," an American Medical Writers Association Book Award Winner, and "Asthma - An Emerging Epidemic."
